An extraordinary Christmas tree
A colorful Christmas tree, entirely crocheted, arrives in Jesolo gracing the outdoor spaces of the Laguna Shopping Park and helping to create the ideal setting for numerous entertainment activities dedicated to families and children.
The story of this extraordinary and unusual tree originated in December 2018 in Trivento, a small town in Molise. A colorful tree about six meters tall, completely crocheted, was erected in the town’s historic center.
The work was created in collaboration with a group of women, passionate about this tradition, who extended an invitation to all other Italian towns to join the initiative as well. The Knit Café, of the Casa Moro Family Counseling Center in Oderzo, decided to take up the call and weaved colorful threads, creating a tree about nine meters high, composed of thousands of crocheted squares of wool worked with a lot of patience and creativity.
In contrast, the support structure, illuminated on the inside, is composed of a massive iron scaffold designed and engineered by qualified personnel for safety. The one carried out by the project “A Thread that Unites” is a profound message meant to remind us how even a simple thread of wool is capable of warming the heart and creating a sense of belonging.
The incredible tree, therefore, will continue to unite new realities and bring that sense of community that has always characterized it, representing the symbol of a community that shares values and perspectives, where everyone is able to feel part of a greater whole by overcoming the sense of loneliness and isolation.
