Free guided tours for tourists and residents to the archaeological site of the Antiche Mura and the San Mauro Monastery will begin on Thursday 22 September. The Department of Humanistic Studies of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice will take care of the appointments. The area in question has been the subject of numerous studies and research since the last century, thanks to which important documents and archaeological remains have come down to us, testifying to the religious importance of the place. On the site are the remains of St. Mary’s Cathedral, the current condition of which probably dates back to the First World War, and the remains of the early medieval Monastery of San Mauro, the discovery of which dates back to the 1950s.
