The pebble nativity scene in Milan square

An exceptional sculpture created by artist Sergio Dalla Mora

A real nativity scene made with hand-created statues thanks to the skill and mastery of Jesolo sculptor Sergio Dalla Mora. In Milan Square, from Sunday, December 11 to Sunday, January 8, 2023, guests and residents will be able to admire the Sassi Nativity, an event that is among the novelties of this holiday season. The work will be displayed in the center of the square and will be freely accessible. A marble sculptor for over fifty years, Sergio Dalla Mora has also sculpted other materials such as plaster, bronze, wood, and even sand. In fact, we recall his participation in Sand Nativity 2017, for which he created an incredible sand sculpture dedicated to ancient Egypt. The artist did not pursue artistic or academic studies, which is why his sculpture is immune to trends so much so that, according to critics, the success of his style is due to his independence from any teaching. A lover of sculpture since childhood, he has always found space to devote to this type of art. Only at a mature age did he meet the international art critic Paolo Rizzi, who convinced him to participate in the most important exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Since then his has been an upward career that today counts to his credit one hundred and fifty exhibitions and more than thirty monuments placed in the squares of Jesolo and neighboring towns. The raw material he worked on for this nativity scene consists mainly of stones of various shapes, sizes and colors that are patiently transformed into authentic works of art. To carve the stone, artists in the past used steel chisels treated with different tempering depending on the hardness of the rock. Today, however, chisels with special tips are used, and there are two different carving techniques. The direct method is an older carving system that goes to work directly on the block of stone, while the indirect method involves first making a model in clay or plaster and then the final realization on stone. An original but distinctive nativity scene with traditional statues of the Nativity, the Magi, shepherds and many other characters set in the setting of the Village of Stars in Milan Square. In the background is a cascade of lights that makes the atmosphere even more magical and enchanting. This, too, therefore, is a must to fully experience this Christmas among nativity scenes, Christmas markets, extraordinary entertainment and numerous shows, taking home unique memories that will be treasured in your heart.
