St. Giovanni Battista

Jesolo celebrates its patron saint!

On Friday 24 June, Jesolo will celebrate St. Giovanni Battista, its Patron saint, who is worshipped by all the Christian and main churches in the history of the seaside resort. Finally, after a stop of two years, the celebrations will start again. The parish of Jesolo Paese, in fact, has officially announced the local festival, which will take place in Piazza Matteotti from 17 to 26 June. Many volunteers will serve typical dishes both to the citizens and to those guests who will be willing to take part in the celebrations on the beach. As anticipated by Jesolo Journal, the evening fireworks on the Sile river will enliven the celebrations. Don’t miss the events scheduled for this special occasion: on 22 June, there will be a fashion show in Piazzetta Jesolo, followed by a comedy theatre show for families on 23 June; on 24 June, some DJs and their music will accompany the firework show. The tenth anniversary of the inauguration of the statue dedicated to Mary “Regina Mundi” – situated in the greenery of the river park and along the banks of Vecchio Piave, was celebrated two years ago. It was inaugurated on 24 June 2010 by Monsignor Beniamino Pizziol, who has just become auxiliary bishop of Venice. The lovers of culture should visit the location and take a picture of the statue.
