Kids | Painting with flowers

by Roberta Guiotto

The beautiful season is perfect for admiring the colours of nature, but also for ‘immortalising’ many beautiful flowers! To do this work with our little helpers we will need: watercolour paper, flowers, a sheet of wax paper or a paper towel, hammer, scissors, frame. Collect flowers or herbs such as clovers, dandelions, golden buttons or poppies, but leave the children as much autonomy as possible to make them feel like real artists. Remove the stems with a pair of scissors, lay the flowers with the corolla facing the paper and cover with wax paper. With the help of a hammer, tap the flowers, also pressing on petals, until the outline appears. Gently peel off the paper, place it in a dry place and allow it to dry. Finally, place it in a frame. You can also use flowers as stencils. Once collected, do not cut off the stem, you will need it as a handle to dip them in tempera colour (acrylic is better, it lasts longer). After dipping them in, dab them on the paper. You can use one flower of each colour and overlap them with each other. Have fun!
