Tropical fish

by Roberta Guiotto

Teaching children to recycle is a fun and creative activity. Here is an easy way to make beautiful tropical fish! Materials needed: empty rolls of toilet paper, acrylic or tempera colours, scissors, stapler, glue, pencil. Procedure: paint the rolls with the colour you like and let the paint dry completely. Draw scales on the rolls by painting small U along the surface. Paint and cut out the fins and tail on other rolls. Assemble the fish by pressing the sides of the main roll together and attach the tail with the stapler. Glue the fins to the sides of the roll. To make the eyes, paint a black dot on a piece of white card and cut out a circle around it, then glue the eyes onto the fish. Et voila, our tropical fish is ready! You can create many different colours and hang them on a stick with a string, thus creating a colourful garland to hang in your children’s room. This activity stimulates children’s creativity and manual skills, teaching them the importance of recycling in a fun and engaging way.
