
Jesolo celebrates its Patron Saint
Jesolo celebrates its patron saint, San Giovanni Battista, with exciting events in the historic town center. The event, at its first edition, is called “Celebration at Equilium”.
The schedule is as follows: on the afternoons of 19th and 21st June, at 4.30 pm, there will be guided cycling excursions and refreshments with typical products.
On June 21st, at 9pm, there will be a traditional play “La Gigia” by Romano Pascutto at the Antiche Mura archaeological site.
The following day, Thursday 22nd June, the dinner of the districts along via Cesare Battisti and piazza I Maggio will be held.
Friday 23rd June there will be a show of magic and illusion on stilts called “Pindarico”. On Saturday 24th June, the day of the Patron Saint, at 2.30 pm there will be a rowing race on the Sile river, following at 5.30 pm there will be a water procession and the rite of entrusting the city to Maria Regina Mundi.
This is followed by the procession of the Sile river bend until the church of San Giovanni Battista. At 6.30pm there will be Holy Mass with at the end a blessing with the relic of St. John the Baptist. At 9pm, in Piazza I Maggio, enjoy live music by Aurora Wind Band. In Piazza della Repubblica instead you can enjoy the DJ set of Radio Bellla and Monella. The awaited and traditional firework show on the Sile river follows after 10 pm. The day of the Patron Saint is a blend of traditions, history, community and nowadays. A moment eagerly awaited, experienced with interest and curiosity also by tourists, who travel from the Lido to Jesolo Paese to discover the events up close.
On 22nd, 23rd and 24th of June there will be a photographic exhibition along via Zuccarini, whilst on the 23rd and 24th there will be a craft market along via Cesare Battisti. Furthermore, from the 22nd to 24th June, to embellish and decorate the streets of the historic center, vintage-style illuminations will be set up along via Zuccarini, via Cesare Battisti and Piazza I Maggio. There will be no shortage of religious appointments in the San Giovanni Battista parish, in the presence of the ecclesiastical offices of the diocese of Venice. Don’t forget to discover the food and wine stands located, as always, close to the place of worship.
